How does Diclofenac Sodium works?

The concomitant administration of cyclosporine and this drug may increase cyclosporine’s nephrotoxicity. It can reduce the diuretic and antihypertensive effects of furosemide and thiazide diuretics. The use of this medicine with other NSAIDs can cause increased gastrointestinal toxicity. The use of this drug causes an increased risk of cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke. It can cause serious gastrointestinal events including bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach, small intestine or large intestine. Patients should be informed of signs and symptoms of hepatotoxicity and anaphylactoid reaction, which can occur during the treatment. This medicine can cause anemia due to fluid retention and GI blood loss. It should be avoided in late pregnancy as it can cause the premature closure of the ductus arteriosus. It is not recommended for nursing mothers. This should not be used as an alternative to corticosteroids or to treat corticosteroid insufficiency.
